About
Marin Interagency Disaster Coalition
We all worry about how we will serve our clients and the community
overall should the Bay Area experience a regional disaster like an
earthquake, wildfire, or major flooding. We all know that we need to
work together to prepare, respond, and recover from these
disasters. The Marin Interagency Disaster Coalition (MIDC) is the
vehicle in Marin County for helping us address these issues. MIDC is
focused on coordinating private sector, non-profit, community-based,
and government sector organizations serving human and animal needs
following a disaster.
MIDC began in 1989 and continues today with a new energy and
commitment. Members representing a broad spectrum of agencies and
organizations with disaster roles are working together to ensure that
we are prepared and can collectively respond to the needs of our
communities during and following a disaster.
In the next few months MIDC will focus on increasing its partnerships
between agencies and organizations throughout Marin. You will receive
additional communications with further information on what MIDC is
doing and how you will fit in and be a partner. Our focus is on
identifying resources, services, and developing a network that will
enable us to collectively respond to the needs of our community during
a disaster.
While we continue to see the ever increasing complexities of disasters
and their effects on our society, we are encouraged by the role MIDC is
playing in helping us all meet the needs of our agencies, our
organizations, and our community as a whole.
